"Shine" is a song by Canadian songwriter Paul DeRosa. It was originally inspired by his cousin, who was paralyzed in a car accident at a young age. Recently, DeRosa brought "Shine" to the attention of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. They loved it, and brought the song to CBC Sports and CBC Music. The lyrics were tweaked, and Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila was brought on board to provide lead vocals, along with some of the best sessions musicians in Canada. Together with CBC Music, they all made "Shine" into this sparkling and inspiring anthem. "Shine" by Paul DeRosa is now the official song of the Canadian Paralympic team for Tokyo 2020. "Shine" is also one of the songs in the 2019 Canadian Music Class Challenge. If your music class chooses to cover this song, your rendition could be shown during the CBC Sports broadcast of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
