The type of the target object is given by the operator ('FindPlane', 'FindSphere', 'FindCylinder', 'FindCone', 'FindTorus', or 'FindBox'). If 'FindCone' is activated (see the upper-left corner of the video screen), cylinder or cone can be automatically identified and measured (upper-mid). If 'FindTorus' is activated, sphere, cylinder, or torus can be automatically identified and measured. In a few months, the type of the target object can be determined automatically ('FindAny' for plane, sphere, cylinder, cone, torus, or box). In 2015, surface of revolution (SoR) will be added to the object type list. Next year, we might put our hands to Microsoft HoloLens. We look at an object, we will get it's geometric information in front of our eyes. Applications include augmented reality, reverse engineering, robotics, logistics, etc. 3-D Sensor: Intel RealSense R200, F200. System: Windows 8.1, Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz. Display adapter: Nvidia GeForce 760. LNCS 3151, least squares, orthogonal distance fitting, point cloud, object recognition, feature extraction, RANSAC, Hough transform, automation.
