We are a grade 10 class at Huntsville High School, located in a small rural town, Huntsville, ON. We are the only high school in the town, with a strong thriving music program. With numerous bands that play throughout the year at different venues and travel most years for cultural tours. This is the first time participating in the CBC Music Class Challenge. What makes us special is the community that is built within the school but also within the town. The people of Huntsville are a big supporter of the schools bands. When the band performs at the local theatre it is a real turn out of people not just parents but strangers. Within the school the music department is isolated from most of the hustle and bustle of the school but, that wouldn’t seem the case. The music room is always busy, with people just practising, jamming, eating their lunch, or just hanging out. The great thing about the music program is it is like your second family, always there to support you and help you through any troubles that you are going through.
